Year 6 Maths

PRIMARY MATHS

Year 6 Maths focuses on strengthening core numeracy skills and getting students ready for high school. It’s an ideal time to reinforce any areas of weakness and challenge students with extension work before they move into Year 7.

Aligned to the Australian Curriculum

Alongside handling more complex problems, Year 6 students learn to work with both positive and negative numbers, apply the order of operations, and add and subtract decimals in real-world situations. They are also introduced to using the Cartesian plane. As their ability to think critically about how maths applies to everyday life grows, they become more skilled at interpreting and presenting data in advanced ways.
